A context inference and multi-modal approach to mobile information access

چکیده
Multimodal context-aware computing offers system support that incorporates the environmental, cognitive and computational state of an individual while allowing them to compose inputs and receive outputs across a range of available modalities. Here we present two support planes from our ubiquitous system architecture, entitled Nightingale. These include a multi-modal application framework and context-management and inference approach based on ontologies. In Nightingale the devices in use form a personal area network (PAN ) with access to local (PLAN ) or remote (PWAN ) devices or services as they become available. Our proposed architectural elements aim to simplify multimodal and multi-device interaction, as the proliferation of small personal and inter-connected computing devices increases. ACM Classification

The study investigated the roles of different stakeholders influencing the use of mobile phones in accessing agricultural information in Tanzania. While information is becoming an important ingredient in agriculture, farmers in Tanzania suffer the problem of lacking access to agricultural information. Promisingly, mobile phone technology has become the most valued infrastructure which gives peo...
متن کاملAccess and Mobility Policy Control at the Network Edge
The fifth generation (5G) system architecture is defined as service-based and the core network functions are described as sets of services accessible through application programming interfaces (API). One of the components of 5G is Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) which provides the open access to radio network functions through API. Using the mobile edge API third party analytics applications ...
متن کاملMulti-modal Dialogues as Natural User Interface for Automobile Environment
We are evolving into a mobile information age where information is expected to be accessed anywhere, anytime, wherever is needed. In this paper, we consider the issues of handling the problems of modality recognizer errors and consistency between multiple modality inputs for a multi-modal dialogue interface in the automobile environment. We describe our work on utterance verification and its ap...
